This Privacy Policy explains how ZenaHub ("ZenaHub," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the ZenaHub mobile application and related services (the "Service"). By using ZenaHub, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Who we are
ZenaHub is a news aggregation app that gathers Ethiopian news from many sources, summarizes it with AI, and delivers it in Amharic and English. ZenaHub is the controller responsible for your personal data. If you have any questions, contact us at hello@zenahub.org.
2. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information. When you create an account or sign in with Google, Apple, Facebook, or email, we collect your name and email address. Signing in with Apple may use a private relay email if you choose to hide your address.
- Preferences and content. Topics you follow, your language and display settings, articles you bookmark or save, and search queries you enter.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data. How you interact with the app — articles viewed, taps, scrolls, reading time, feature use, and session activity.
- Device and identifiers. A device identifier, an app-assigned user ID, app version, operating system, and a push notification token.
- Advertising identifiers. If you allow it, an advertising identifier (such as Apple's IDFA) used to deliver and measure ads.
Information from purchases
- Subscription data. If you purchase a premium subscription, we and our payment processor receive your purchase history and subscription status. We never receive or store your full payment card details — those are handled by Apple or Google.
3. How we use your information
- To provide, personalize, and improve your news feed and the Service.
- To create and manage your account and authenticate sign-in.
- To send push notifications for breaking news and topics you follow (you can disable these at any time).
- To process subscriptions and provide premium features.
- To measure usage with analytics so we can improve the app.
- To display advertising and measure its effectiveness.
- To maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
4. Third-party services we use
ZenaHub relies on the following third-party services, which may process data on our behalf or as independent controllers. Each operates under its own privacy policy.

5. Advertising and tracking
ZenaHub shows ads through Google AdMob and may use Meta's tools to measure advertising. Some advertising relies on an advertising identifier that can be used to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies.
- On iOS, we ask for your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt before using your advertising identifier for tracking. You can change this anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- In regions such as the EEA and UK, we present a consent form (Google UMP) so you can choose how your data is used for ads.
- You can limit ad personalization in your device settings at any time.
6. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only:
- with the third-party service providers listed above, to operate the Service;
- to comply with the law, a legal request, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users and the public;
- in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you of any change in control of your data.
7. Data retention
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it to meet legal, security, or fraud-prevention obligations.
8. Your rights and choices
- Access and correction. You can view and update your profile information in the app.
- Account deletion. You can delete your account from within the app (Profile → Settings) or by emailing hello@zenahub.org. Deleting your account removes your personal data as described in Section 7.
- Notifications. You can turn push notifications on or off in the app or in your device settings.
- Advertising. You can withdraw tracking consent or reset your advertising identifier in your device settings.
- Regional rights. Depending on where you live (for example, the EEA, UK, or California), you may have additional rights to access, port, restrict, or delete your data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@zenahub.org.
9. Children's privacy
ZenaHub is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use appropriate technical and organizational measures — including encryption in transit and access controls — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International data transfers
Your information may be processed and stored on servers located outside your country, including by our service providers (for example, in the United States). Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Your continued use of ZenaHub after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
